Objective.
Broken
Needle & Metal Contamination control Procedure ensures that products
manufactured at Factory are free of any broken needle or unwanted sharp
metal parts.
Procedure.

divided into two phases. 1. Prevention 2. Detection
Prevention.
a.
Broken/Used Needle Policy
§ Each operator should only be
in the possession of the number of needle/s required to operate his/her
machine.
§ Whenever a replacement is
required, the sewer will approach the designated person with all parts of the
used or broken needle.
§
When needle is broken during sewing, every
effort must be made to locate all fragments of the broken needle in the
garment(s), machinery must be checked, including such areas as the sewing
machine throat plate, feed dogs and bobbin case and oil tank.
§
Use of magnet to locate/search all fragments
of the broken needle is recommended.
§
Any breakage must be recorded in the broken
needle log and the broken fragments attached and sealed in the log,
entries in to the log must be completed in full.
§
If all fragments cannot be found, then the
bundle of garments on which the operator is sewing. And any bundles in close
proximity must be taken to a separate place for further examination.
§
If all parts
of the broken needle are still not found, then these bundles are passed through
metal detector machine & the same is verified by authorized person prior to
returning to the line.
§
All sewing line must have its own needle
log for better control.
§
Maintenance dept. maintains daily needle
breakage report and Needle breakage report summary to check and record the
issuing needles as per each line.
§
End of the Day, Magnet Roller will be rolled
into sewing line to collect broken needle or metal contamination if any from
the sewing Lines.

metal stationmasters at inside the factory promises which is applicable to all
departments
